When acid staining concrete it s extremely important to clean the concrete very well before doing anything else.

I started by scraping any dried drywall mud and paint off the floor. Then i used a vacuum to remove all of the dust dirt and debris. Do not use harsh household cleansers on the floor. Applying the stain with a pump sprayer after about 4 hours we used a solution of 1 cup of baking soda and 4 gallons of water to deactivate the stain.

Maintenance for an acid stained concrete floor problems can also arise after application because of sealer failure or improper sealer maintenance. To remove acid stains on the floor you must act immediately and sprinkle the bicarbonate sodium on the affected area ensuring that you are protecting yourself with a sturdy pair of gloves special work trousers and goggles. And don t forget to ventilate the room to avoid breathing in the highly toxic fumes. The baking soda stops the acid from etching the floor.

Then in a bucket i mixed some soap and water and mopped the entire floor. The residue is very acidic. Acid stained floors are easy to clean and rarely need more than a mop and water.
